Help & FAQ
Quick answers to common questions about Simon Says Sign Up.
● Getting Started
After signing in, click New Sheet in the navigation bar or go to your
Dashboard and click Create New Sheet. Give your sheet a
title, optional description and dates, then add slots (time slots, items, or volunteer
positions). When you're ready, change the status to Active to make it
available to participants.
No. Participants only need to enter their name and email address.
There's no account creation, no password, and no friction. They receive a confirmation
email with a link to cancel if needed.
Every active sheet gets a short link (
simonsayssignup.com/s/123) and an
organization page link (simonsayssignup.com/your-org/sheet-name). Copy
either link and share it via email, text, social media, or your church bulletin. No
special app is needed — it works in any browser.
● Managing Sheets
Slots are the individual items people sign up for. They could be time shifts
("9 AM – 12 PM"), items to bring ("Dessert", "Paper Plates"), volunteer roles
("Greeter", "Setup Crew"), or anything else. Each slot has a capacity — the maximum
number of people (or quantity) that can sign up.
When Allow Quantity is enabled, participants can claim more than one
spot at a time. For example, if someone wants to bring 3 dozen cookies to a potluck,
they can enter a quantity of 3 instead of signing up three separate times.
Yes! When creating or editing a sheet, you can add custom fields like text inputs,
dropdowns, checkboxes, and more. For example, you might add a "Dietary Restrictions"
dropdown or a "T-Shirt Size" field. Custom field responses are included in CSV exports.
Sheets move through these statuses:
- Draft — Only visible to admins. Edit freely.
- Active — Live and accepting sign-ups from participants.
- Closed — Visible but no longer accepting new sign-ups.
- Archived — Hidden from public view. Data is preserved.
On the sheet's sign-ups page, click the Export CSV button. The download
includes participant names, email addresses, slot details, quantities, comments, status,
and any custom field responses.
● Waitlist
When Allow Waitlist is enabled on a sheet, participants can still sign
up after a slot is full. They're placed on a waitlist in order. If someone cancels,
the next person on the waitlist is automatically promoted and notified by email. They
have 24 hours to confirm before the spot moves to the next person.
Yes. Every confirmation email includes a cancellation link. Participants can cancel at
any time, which automatically frees the spot and promotes the next waitlisted person
(if any).
● Organization & Branding
Yes! Under Admin → Organization, you can upload your logo, set
your brand colors, and add a header image. These apply to your organization's public
page and all your sign-up sheets, giving participants a familiar, branded experience.
Absolutely. Go to Admin → Organization → Members to invite
other people by email. They'll create an account (or sign in) and immediately have
access to manage your organization's sheets. All plans include unlimited admins.
Every organization gets a public page at
simonsayssignup.com/your-org-name that lists all your active sheets
in one place. Share this single link and participants can browse everything you have
going on.
